Subject:
large boulder of Jurassic sandstone
Hello!
My name is JD. I'm an exploration geologist working
in Nevada and have much more than a scientific interest
in stone as I am also an aspiring sculptor/carver. I enjoy
working with limestone, marble and alabaster, although
soapstone is my favorite medium so far. I have a very
large (8' x 8') boulder of Jurassic sandstone that I want
to carve next, but have never done a piece so large, so
am rather intimidated. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I have also done some pieces in massive sulfide that have
come out looking much like polished brass, but tend to
oxidize rapidly, giving them a very weathered look
immediately. Cool!
Regards to All, JD
