tips for newcomers on pneumatic tools
Mike, you are probably holding the hammer too tightly.
It is possible to work all day with the air hammers
without great trauma. Here in Australia, ice blocks up
the air outlet in winter and chunks of ice fly out
eveery now and again and in summer the hammeers get so
hot that we use two. When one gets too hot to handle,
even with leather gloves, we drop it in a bucket of
water to cool off and use the second one and so on.
I find one only has to guide the hammer and there are
many changes of position that can be used in holding the
hammer. I find the air-hose quite handy at times. I
mostly use 1" hammers for the rough work and then move
down to 3/4 " , 1/2", 1/4" as is required for the
finishing work. Must admit though that I still enjoy
working with the hand tools.
Great to hear from you,
Regards
John Shephard
