Daniel,
Please do stay in touch with the group. If you are into
Geology you have a unique understanding of the
properties of different types of stone. You would be
able to start carving with at least that knowlege to
start with (something I don't have). Who knows, after
being on the list a while, you might want to try your
hand at sculpture.
Not everyone can carve stone into a true to life form.
There are many different styles and techniques used. You
might just want to learn how to bring out the natural
beauty of the "rocks" you collect with the different
polishing techniques that sculptures use (the way a
stone looks and the way it looks polished can be way
different-with some you can see the "grain" of the stone
as well as swirls and colors you normally wouldn't). We
also might like to ask you questions occasionaly about
stone properties. So please ... stay. After all, it's
just email :)
