Who wants sculpture?
I think Jock is right. There is a huge amount of
opportunity and much that can be done by artists
themselves to raise the profile of sculpture.
Maybe it has to be done by artists, who else is going to
do it? Arts organisations have not really identified
marketing of sculpture as a specific issue. Most
commercial galleries do not take sculpture - they know
that paintings sell better.
There is plenty of opportunity for artists to
collaborate and establish marketing initiatives. I know
some that have developed inroads into the private
gardens market.
Like Jock, I am organising an international sculpture
symposium. This one will be in the UK next year.
