Getting Started/Asbestos
Some varieties of soapstone do contain asbestos, and
indeed is more to concern about than talc.
My suggestion to avoid that is to purchase your
soapstone from known sources and request a documented
test which shows that the stone is asbestos free. Bottom
line is regardless of what stone you carve, a mask
should always be worn.
