In search of a very soft carving stone
Dear stone-carvers,
Can you help? I'm looking for a very soft, white stone
to work for an indoor sculpture - about half the size of
a person. On a recent trip to New Zealand I went to the
Oamaru Stonecarving Symposium, and they gave me a piece
of very soft, white limestone to carve. It is like
carving butter. Since then, I have been wondering if
there is something similar in Britain, and where I could
get it from.
Any ideas, suggestions welcome.
Thanks very much.
