Subject: have you made web site sales?

It has had a very significant impact for me. A good portion of my business
comes through the site, and even for those clients with whom first contact
is off line, they then go through the site for more info before proceeding.

It helps to remember that a web site is not a flat brochure or magazine
ad ... if you do it that way people will move on quickly. I try to mostly
provide interesting info and resources, and to try to avoid a commercial feel.

BTW, a few of you might enjoy a new page I put up yesterday - I'm still fine
tuning it, so it isn't yet linked from the rest of my site. It's a "birth
of a gargoyle" page, sequence shots of two current works in progress. (one
of which is a commission from a web client) It's at
http://stonecarver.com/create.html
(If you run into any problems or confusing things with that page, please
let me know so I can fix them before it "goes live").

Also, any of you who's browsers have a plug-in for viewing VRML 3-D files
might find another page interesting, http://stonecarver.com/archwork.html
This shows design work, (including a 3D computer model and a rendering) and
work in progress shots of a limestone fireplace. This page was primarily
set up for communications with a client-they lives a few thousand miles from
me, so I used the page first for design decisions, and now for posting
progress updates for them to see.
