How can I slice granite boulders?
First, let me introduce myself. My name is Don Meister. I am a Power
Engineer living near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. I have recently
moved to a small acreage where I have room to work with and build with
stone. Most of the stone I have available is in the form of granite
boulders up to about 1.5 meters in diameter.
I am primarily interested in knowing how to slice some of these
boulders. The stones are almost all far too large to be sliced with a
diamond saw (besides diamond blades being far too expensive for me) but
I've heard of a method using wire cable for stone cutting.20
I would very much like to hear from someone who has knowledge or
experience with slicing granite in the sizes I have available. Shaping
will come later, but the slicing is the essential first step.
