How can I slice granite boulders?
Hi Don
If you say slicing the stone I assume you're interested in producing
building material primarily. The method widely used for "slicing" is
actually splitting the stones with three component wedges which are
inserted in to pre drilled holes and then hammered in by use of a sledge
hammer. This is a very efficient and fairly inexpensive method of
dimensioning granite boulders. I strongly recommend that you inform
your self thoroughly about the proses before getting in to it or hire a
professional to do the job for you or at least get you started.
A source of knowledgeable people is at Garibaldi Granite Group in
Squamish B.C. This guys do it all. 604 892 0191
Hope this helps
