Surface sealers soft stone
Dear Nelson,
I like to seal and protect alabaster with an acrilic marble and floor tile
sealer. Try rubbing on very thin coats with a thin cloth. 2 or 3 coats will
start to shine but not have a thick laid on finish. The wax is hard enough
to walk on and much harder than alabaster. BUT, for protecting alabaster
for outdoor display is another matter!
Alabaster can be damaged by just about anything. Water, rain , snow, falling
acorns, and most sneaky is ultraviolet ray from the sun. It bleach out color
and damage the stone. A company in Atlanta Georgia, USA called GranQuartz
has some amazing stone sealers. UV resistant, and epoxy sealents that
protect and strengthen weak stone.
Good luck finding something in your area.
