hello (2)
Not wanting to be a total lurker but having little to
add due to inexperience, this note is just to say
"hello" and to assure those with more experience that
their responses are read and welcome. From sealants to
saws, I'm soaking it up.
I had a short gallery-sponsored course that, among other
things, didn't go enough into dust and other safety
factors. Experience has now taught me about wearing
gloves around rotary tools, for instance, and I luckily
still have all my fingers. I've built a studio but am
scared of the dust situation and will just keep reading.
I'm thinking I will keep the tools fairly basic and of
the hand sort for a while. I'm working with alabaster,
trying to do do bowls, pots, and likenesses of the Green
Man found on medieval cathedrals.
I thought I might get into this sort of thing 40 years
ago but took a circuitous route. Mostly just wanted to
make known my gratitude to those who have experience and
share it -
