dust (WAS hello)
John,
Its good to be wary of dust. Any of the granites and sandstone have silica ,
which causes silicoses of the lungs. Dust from marble and limestone can also
be a pain, but silica is a real hazard. Whenever I'm using my grinder, my
mask is on.
Granite City Tool, in Barre, Vermont has a good one that takes different
cartridges. So if you were around acid mist, you just change over. I've
used their masks for 20 years, (starting to feel old) and have no lung
problems. I've been exposed to intense granite , sandstone, sandblast,
marble, limestone, alabaster, soapstone, etc, etc, dust. Still no problems.
I like the way you are working into stone sculpture. Keep it simple, and
have fun. Best advice I was given, (by an arrogant college professor) was,
keep your chisel sharp.
