Can I carve Kentucky sandstone?
Hi Doug,
I wont pretend to be an expert on the subject of sandstone, but the stone I
carve most is red sandstone local to the Lake District, UK. It is soft, and
wont take too much detail, or easily breakable forms, but it gives quick and
pleasing results.
Having said that, other types of sandstone (yellows, whites) I have tried
have been a bit coarse, or just disintegrated. In my opinion, it can't hurt
to try. Of course, it wont last forever, but does it really need to?
yours
Sky
