Pneumatic Hammer
Ned,
I have used a German made air hammer that fits the discription. I don't know
the manufacturer. The tool and chisels were made specifically for stone
carving.
The trick to being able to use airhammers for a long time is to hold
everything as loose as possible. It really comes down to fingertip control.
When you first start out, it is natural to hang on very tightly. That will
wear out your muscles and wipe out any real senesitivity to the carving.
Relax and let the hammer do the work. Good luck.
