Obsidian
There are now optical surgery techniques which actually use obsidian blades
for making incisions in the eye. The blades are sharper than any metal blade
available and minimize scaring. The first blades were made by hand but I
believe there is a company manufacturing them mechanically now.
I have also seen beautiful serpentine shaped ceremonial knives about nine
inches long in Mexico, so it must be workable to somehow.
