How old masons kept their tools sharp ...
to Steven McGahey - in 'Stone Mad' by Seamus Murphy he describes life as
a mason in Southern Ireland in the 20s and 30s - he describes how if
there was a lot of work on the masons would all be working at the bankers
and would put out the blunt tools for the apprentice to resharpen, thus
the masons could keep working and not lose money!
I bought a copy through Amazon.com - its full of information on exactly
how work prod=ceeded in a gang of masons working on a large contract -
facinating!
from Stephen West (sculptor, mid Wales)
