Stone In The Netherlands
Hello again to you all!
Is there anywhere out there who lives and works in the
Netherlands in a stone related industry, including
sculptors, geologists etc? If so, please get in touch.
When I first visited the Amsterdam a few years ago, I
was absolutely amazed by the amount of stone that was
used for building. I had always thought it would be just
brick, given that the Netherlands possesses virtually no
hard rock geology of its own.
I have always known that the Dutch are extremely
resourceful and that, being the avid traders that they
are, there must be a well established importing and
manufacturing industry but I haven't got to the root of
it yet. I am currently planning a photographic project,
to take in the best stone built architecture, especially
the carvings and sculpture and I would be really pleased
if someone could provide me with a little more insight.
This aspect of the Netherlands absolutely fascinates me
and I hope to live and work there one day.
All help gratefully received.
