Quoted text begins.I have a question for the list. I am a beginning sculptor and I have no
idea what to with all that powder. Right now I am working with only

information about the environmental concerns, if any, of stone dust
disposal in general. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks
in advance.

Well, the planet is made of stone, the stone came out of the earth, so it
really can't do much damage. :-)))) Sandstone dust is also called sand.
You find it on beaches.
Limestone and marble dust actually neutralize the effects of acidic
polution. I knew one stone mill owner who was trying to get a tax break for
the environmental benefits of his dust and slurry going into a polluted
river, since it helped cancel out the pollution. Another friend uses it to
pave his long driveway. Limestone dust can also be good to spread in the
garden.
If you produce large quantities, you will need to find a way to dispose of
it besides scattering it in the garden. I have an agreement with a stone
mill, since I buy tons of stone from them; I save the dust and chips till I
have about 300 or 400 lbs, then take it back to the mill and dump it in
their bins; they send a truckload every couple weeks out to a place that
crushes it for road fill.
