Exactly. For the granite to flake you need a welders torch and a mixture
of oxygen and propane. Acetylene as suggested by on of the list members
creates excessive heat causing naughty side effects such as deep
penetrating cracks and blackening of the surface area plus it is a lot
more expensive. However do use water to cool the treated area as
suggested. This process is a very violent one so protect your self with
a full face mask and rap you head with something more then just a
baseball cap.
