Cracks in soapstone
John
I have used a new polyester knife grade glue made by akemi co. Its called
Marmorkitt 1000, a clear marble filler. Used for filling patching and
mending of light-coloured and natural stones. Does not darken, UV stabilized
and polishable.
I used this stuff last year on a gray granite bench repair job. After
crunching up the granite to get similar sized chrystals, I mixed in the
glue, waited 2 days, and ground off the excess and then tooled the patches
with a air hammer to match the existing texture.
You can use it any way you want. It worked great for me. I get it from
Granite city tool co. in barre VT. There is a company in georgia called
Gran-Quartz that has a lot of new high tech stuff that is uv resistant.
The yellowing and darkening of epoxy has alaways been a problem. This new
stuff is a big inprovment.

do you know of any other epoxy which may provide similar results to the
WEST SYSTEMS which won't yellow with sun exposure? the sheen is a lesser
concern/problem.
End of quote.
