Question on drilling alabaster
Thank you Lisa and Brett for your suggestions on drilling alabaster. I did
think about turning the piece over as you suggested Lisa, and I may try that
next time, but the problem in doing that is finding the same center on a 2
inch long piece when I turn it over. I have to drill the stone before it is
shaped on the lathe, so the piece isn't perfectly square or round when I
drill it.
Brett, your advice regarding the glass drill bit was just what I was told
today by a salesperson in a tool department. So I bought a glass/tile drill
bit and will try that out as soon as I get a chance.
Of course there may be some good reasons why you never see alabaster
pens ... LOL, but stone is so beautiful, I just have to at least try! So I'll
keep experimenting and see if I can find a way.
I'll let you know how it goes.
