Here's what I have pieced together about stone blades:

For Marble, Limestone, or soft, non-silicate (high
abrasive) stone use diamond electroplated blades.
Electroplated means diamond matrix is plated on the
blade. Wears moderately well. Cuts marble like butter.
Use dry or wet. Run at high (10,000) rpm to keep them
cool. Consumer grade angle grinders may not have enough
speed to keep them cool so you have to compensate by
frequently pausing to run the blade in free air.

Granite, basalt, other volcanic and high-silica stone
use diamond sintered blades. Sintered means diamonds are
embedded in hard metal matrix that make up the saw
teeth. Sawing keeps exposing fresh diamond grit
gradually. Wears amazing well. No need to use water
ever! (Slower, large industrial blades use water to to
cool blade and remove dust). $60 US blade will last for
months or years with careful use. Cuts granite
impressively well. Run at 10,000 rpm to keep them cool.
If you try cutting marble with a sintered blade, the
blade may float and skid around rather than digging in.

Masonary and steel grinding wheels and cut off blades.
Normally not hard enough material for stone use. But
they come in handy in wierd situations. Cut off blade,
for example, can be ground down, sharpened for a thin
shallow cut.

Carbide plated blades probably are not worth their price
because of quick wear. Also, from what I have been told,
carbide tip saw blades don't work well. Carbide tips are
perfect for chisels, but not for stone sawing.

Hope this helps,
Bill
