adventures of an absolute beginner
This is great Sam. I love these little stories. I will be traveling doen
to Escondido to buy my first rock, stone, whatever this weekend. I have to
decide what to buy, but I think I will see what is recommended. Probably
alabester. At any rate, I announced to my son that I would be making the
trip to San Diego this weekend and he just had to ask why. When I answered
to buy a rock, he gazed at me in amazement, then groaned. His girlfriend
was puzzled at this interaction, and asked "What is she buying a rock for?"
"Another one of her 'things'" my son announced (he is 17 by the way and has
endured a lot of my whims). Guess I've tried a lot of 'things' in my search
for that thing that will be 'my thing'. I am immersing myself in the same
books that were suggested to you, as well as reading The Agony and the
Escasty about Michealangelo's life. Great book, I highly recommend it for
additional inspiration. Well, I would love to hear which road you take in
your decision in what to carve- cobra or bunny. By the way, what kind of
'rock' did you buy?
