Rust Removal; follow-up
Finally had a chance to tackle the rust problem I referred to all of you and
thought I should let you know my results.
The 'CLR' household rust remover didn't really work all that well.
What did work, was the muriatic acid. It was easy to find at the local
hardware store and not terribly expensive for the 1L bottle that I bought.
I wore gloves, old clothes and my trusty face shield but wasn't expecting
the fumes. Next time I use this stuff I'll make sure there is a gentle
breeze blowing to get rid of the terrible fumes. Still required lots of
scrubbing with a stiff plastic brush to get rid of most of the rust stains.
Thanks to all who replied to my original request for help. I printed and
filed your suggestions for future reference.
