Hello ,

Very interesting way of looking at it, and true. I'
myself have also just begun sculpting. Nothing I've ever
created has had such an impact on me. Pages of ancient
history compressed into the ultimate medium, and then
the privilege of working and sculpting beautiful and
carveable material like marble and alabaster. I'm
addicted to say the least.

The pieces I've made have all been taken on by local
Galleries, so I'm very excited about its potential.
Pieces visible on the website were all made in the last
5 months or so. I'm using a simple stationary grinding
wheel and a small hand drill. For bigger pieces an angle
grinder works well with masonry disks. Not very fancy,
but you have to make do with what you have out here in
the sticks, so to speak. I learned by virtue of
intuition as there are no courses or people I know that
do this here. One big point of inspiration was watching
a documentary featuring Inuit soapstone carvers grinding
away at -20 Celsius.

Lets just say that it was a steep learning curve fraught
with mistakes. Things are finally starting to make
sense. Good luck to all the gringo's out there. Just
keep trying!

Any comments welcome. I would enjoy getting some
feedback on these.
