one hint for heavy stone
welcome to any and all newcomers or new speakers, who share the passon for
rocks!
i am a bit offended at that remark below as i do both stone and metal and
they both have their good points and their drawbacks! i must admit tho that
stone was my first love and has been for almost 40 years. to reference an
earlier e on drawing - no it is not absolutely necessary to do both drawing
and carving but as one who enjoys both i can tell you that being able to
draw does help a direct carver work through design problems encountered on
the way to completion of a piece - (direct carving is the 'only' way for me)
truthfully, i believe if you can do one sort of art you can learn just about
any art form you chose to apply yourself to learning, while the techniques
change the process remains the same.
*hugs* to all the dusty ones :)

ps: us metal also folks can make a sculpture table in a short afternoon -
and if using recycled materials the cost is practically NOTHING :P
