Linda you should try using wood bases as well. I have used wood before and
it actually looks very good with the stone. The natural wood and stone
grains work well together and the wood base really accentuates the stone
sculpture. Plus, wood can be stained and finished to many different finishes
depending on what you want. It is also a lot cheaper and it is easier to
make the base into a more interesting shape.
