Announcing:

T H E  S E C O N D  A N N U A L  S T O N E  W O R K  S Y M P O S I U M

THE STONE FOUNDATION, a society of stone masons and others in related fields
was launched at last year?s STONEWORK SYMPOSIUM 2000 in Santa Fe, NM.  Those
who were in attendance at that unprecedented gathering of stone masons, stone
carvers, stone cutters, novices, quarriers, contractors and suppliers,
architects, landscape architects, artists archaeologists and aficionados,
heartily affirmed that this event will be an annual occurrence.  

STONEWORK SYMPOSIUM 2001 will occur AUGUST 11-16 in Charlottesville, VA, home
of the University of Virginia and Thomas Jefferson's Monticello.  The five-day
core program will feature presentations by notable speakers and dialogue concerning:
    1.  STONE WORK IN ARCHITECTURE
    2.  STONE WORK IN HISTORY 
    3.  STONE WORK IN AND AROUND CHARLOTTESVILLE (a tour)
    4.  STONE WORK IN OTHER LANDS  and STONE WORK IN ART 
    5.  STONEWORK IN THE LANDSCAPE
	
STONE WORK SYMPOSIUM 2001 will conclude with an extraordinary  event: an
INTERNATIONAL DRY STONE WALLING COMPETITION/DEMONSTRATION 
Skilled dry stone masons from Europe, Japan and North America will compete 
for trophies, cash and prizes.
