Cultural appropriation
Rod,
The steam is pouring off your page as I read your letter. Can't say I don't
blame you. From your letter it is not clear whether the arts council you
refer to has rights to do as they did (as absurd as it sounds). If it is
their show they may have the right to be as restrictive as they choose. What
authority is involved? If you give more information, perhaps someone on this
list may be able to help you. You would think the arts council would have a
provision to identify art sources so that they can preserve whatever
cultural heritage they need to. But since time doesn't stop, they should be
proud to show how modern art is influenced by the past.
