Polishing stones
Dear group,
I simply wish to share a discovery on polishing stones
(such as alabaster, soapstone and limestone). I have
always marveled at the fine luster one can achieve by
sanding, wet sanding and waxing a finished stone.
Remembering my father's practice of "spit shining his
shoes", I decided to try it on stone. After waxing and
then polishing a stone, I applied another thin coat of
wax over the stone and immediately sprayed it with
water. I then buffed the stone with a cotton cloth and
discovered the luster was vastly improved. Perhaps this
is nothing new to most of you. However, I just had to
share it ...just in case.
