Subject: Historical request - stonemasons

Nicola,

Read WJ Arkell's 'Oxford Stone' for information on Taynton and Little
Barrington (1947, OUP; reprinted sometime in the 60s or 70s). The quarries
are still there, of course - at least at Taynton. Mr Lee was the owner,
but he was rather elderly last time I spoke to him (about 6 years ago).
The Taynton used at Blenheim was considered the best Taynton ever to have
been produced.
