hi howard,
a long time ago I placed a posting about this, but I
couldn't find it in the archive. however, before I
recosntruct it, you may want to go to the archive and do
a search for "compressor" and "pneumatic". This yields a
large volume of postings which in their sum will
probably tell you all you'll ever want to know on the
topic.
