Air compressors
Compressors
I run a Sears 33 gal, 6 hp. It has been sufficient for about 5 years. A
capacitor blew in freezing temps one winter and a coupling failed this past
years. I probably have run it an average of 4 hours per week (so it has not
seen ral heavy use) Two problems with this size: it is really not
sufficient to run air powered grinders and sanders. I use it strictly for
hammers. One observation I'd make in this regard is that there are some
nice center water feed angle grinders that might be nice to use. I use
similar electrical ones (with gfi) but would feel alot better with
pneumatic)
The other issue is noise. My compressor is fairly loud. I have noticed
that belt driven compressors tend to be quieter.
Finally, make sure you check your electrical service regarding the
compressor your choose (before you buy).
You will probably need at least 240V service.
Good luck.
