Quoted text begins.I have grown to love stone and am now starting to feel really pleased with
the pieces I have produced. My latest piece is a gargoyle in Portland
stone - I hope to finish him by the end of next month.

Hi David,

Congratulations on discovering stone. I started stone carving about two
years ago and I just love the process - I am always sorry when a piece is
finally finished, no matter how pleased I am with it, and anxious to start
again on a new piece. I find that I can judge best how I am progressing with
the work by closing my eyes and using my hands to feel the stone, section by
section, so I can understand the satisfaction that you get from working with
the stone. I recently visited Nigel Owen's shop, in Yelvertoft, in your area
and bought several pieces of alabaster and soapstone from them - they were
extremely helpful.

Keep up the good work.

Lesley (Essex)
