Hi David,
Two penneth from another 'New Boy' in your neck of the
woods. Re that office furniture idea, great but please
don't put blocks under the legs, horrendous wobble
factor!, rather build up the top. Jewsons builders
merchants sell sawn 2" x 4" very cheaply (let it dry out
for awhile if you can 'cos it shrinks quite a bit). The
reason for building up the top being that you'll end up
with a solid surface to work on, no bouncy bouncy!!!
Or, if space is a consideration, get yourself over to
Kettering. The Newland shopping centre has a little
discount shop called Trade Direct (used to be the
Chapter 2 book shop) and lo' within it's portals they
have a 'butchers block' on legs, it's 18" x 18" x 34"
high at a mere £35 (3 in stock) looks good and sturdy.
Whilst you're there in the Newlands centre check out the
pound shop, 36 sheets (Half sheets in fact) of wet and
dry, for yes you've guessed it a quid. They are of the
courser grades but very useful in the early stages of
finishing your work.
Keep on bashing
Tony
