Kettering Tony's ideas
Hi David,
In answer to your question, EVERYTHING! I kinda always
thought of myself as a bit of a 'traditionalist' but I
must admit to being really impressed with some of the
work that is going on out there, life & art are a
constant surprise and if we keep ourselves 'open' even
ol' fogies like us can still learn. If you're interested
I have been slowly putting together a collection of
'links' and I can send a few if you wish. A couple come
to mind that may be of interest. Oh, be prepared for a
long read, so get yourself a cup of coffee, get comfy
and enjoy. The first on sharpening tools
http://www.shavings.net/SCARY.HTM the next on carving
stone
[URL now obsolete]
Ss far as railway sleepers are concerned, good idea, I
understand that they are the 'bankers' that stone masons
refer to. The piece one is to work on is 'banked' up to
a working height, some one way some the other, criss-
cross fashion. We are talking for BIG stuff here.
None the less still a good idea, and as far as I can
ascertain prices seem to range from between £12 to A320 each seeming to depend on how 'clean' they are.
Perhaps should remind you that they are whopping great
lumps of timber, so transporting and cutting to size
needs to be thought about, you might need a gang of
helpers!!!? Best of Luck Tony
