introducing myself ...
My name is Kristi and I live in Boston, MA. I've just completed my
Bachelors of Fine Arts degree at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Now
that I've finished school, I'm getting back into stone as my specific
medium. My work is abstract, usually taking on forms that are found in
nature, such as stalagmites, or creating the illusion that a piece is made
up of several small stones put together, rather than one solid stone. I've
cared a variety of stones; soapstone, sandstone, limestone, various types
of alabaster, pudding stone, and african wonderstone. I have a studio in my
basement, and at this point I am looking to get some sort of ventilation
system set up. I want to start carving harder stones -like granite, and
therefore will need an air compressor and pneumatics with attachments, or
I'm also looking to find the facilities around my area, which has been no
luck of mine in Boston. Also, I've never yet been to Rutland Vermont, but I
hear that it is the place to be, as a stone carver who wants to live in an
artist community. Is this true?
