Picking up the Pieces
Linda,
Mistakes are the best part of art. They seem painful
at the time but put the humanity in a piece. The
parts I like best about my work are the mistakes,
because otherwise it could just as easily be a piece
of plastic made in a mold. If a piece came out
exactly as I intended I think it would have less life.
Your role as an artist is to figure out whether to
re-carve the fragments or glue. My first figurative
piece ended up in 5 pieces, and it is still 5 pieces
mounted individually next to each other as a broken
figure.
Enjoy,
Ken Barnes
