Quarries in South Africa
Hello Family Segal
I do not answer the stone list messages (very seldom).
I opened your message due to the subject: Quarries in South Africa.
Well. I must say that I have no idea about soapstone or
alabaster in South Africa. I doubt it due to the
Geological formation of the area.
But I know that the best black granite comes from south Africa.
I had worked with it for open air sculptures and for small size also.
It is a great stone and the querries must be great places to visit.
Sorry I have no more information.
Black granite is very hard to work and heavy (around 3,6
tones x 1 m3) !!!!!!
Hope you have good travel.
