Removing tool marks - George Graham (WAS Introducing myself: Clive Murray-White - Australian Stone)
Dear George,
Thanks for the all the advice, yes I have tried most of the methods that you
have suggested and have found that Hydrochloric Acid - spirits of salts works
pretty well on many limestones and marbles but have never been sure that
I'm not doing more damage than good!
My usual system is 1) fine sand blast. a job that I always hate doing
2) Spirits of salts
3) Buff lightly with pads made from what I think of as pot cleaning
material. very good for a soft sheen.
4) seal with a Tanax marble sealer that does not change the surface and
colour at all.
