Consistency in Makita Diamond Blades
I'm not an expert on diamond blades but I do know that there is a vast
range of quality in diamond blades: the amount of diamond, the way it
is attached to the blade (sintered, pressed in, plated). Maybe there
has been changes from your original blade specs?
Another possibility is that your motor is not running as fast as it
used to: age catches up with us all. Is the battery carrying a full
charge?
Check the blade itself for clogging. If the diamonds are covered in
something soft they will not cut. The traditional technique in the
lapidary field is to cut a brick with the diamond saw. This is
supposed to remove any metal covering the diamonds. BTW running dry is
not really a good idea as friction causes heat and diamonds will burn
if they get hot enough.
