Subject: sculptor website

Hello all,

I've been reading messages and interacting with sculptors on this forum for
quite awhile, and have come to appreciate all the knowledge and experience
that this list taps into. I would like to hear what other artists and stone
sculptors have to say about setting up their own web-site.

I'm seriously thinking about going in that direction, but I don't have any
experience in computers, other than just barely being able to deal with
e-mail. I did just learn how to use the spellchecker,so I'm making progress!
I wonder how much time does it take to set one up? What can I get for a low
cost versus an expensive site? Does it take a lot of time to maintain, and
take out old stuff and then put in new pictures, etc. This notion that I
need a web-site comes from wanting to improve contact with galleries and the
public in general, reaching beyond the small market where I live. Do I even
need a web-site, when I can e-mail pictures to clients? Is a web-site not
professionally used, nothing more than an ego-site? Showing your work just
to show off is not a bad thing, per say. Is a web-site an integral tool in
bringing in business?

I would love to hear what people have to say on this subject, who have gone
down this road.

Clearly the art buying public has changed over the last 20 years, and I, and
a lot of other artists can't afford to be stuck in the mud . So , does a
web-site help or hinder? Is it what you make of it?
I'm starting to wander, so its time to shut up and listen.

Thanks,
George Graham
