Using water-fed grinders
Hello,
This list has been very helpful to me in the past, and
is, in fact, the only stone community I am involved in.
Mostly through reading all the interesting questions and
answers by people far more knowledgeable and experienced
than I.
I'm reaching a point where I need to change my system,
perhaps someone can help me. I'm looking for suppliers
of good cup grinding wheels. My plan is to create a
water-fed grinder (electric motor with pulley) to shape
small pieces of local alabaster and marble. I'm also
trying to find ways of sanding the rock using water. I
can't seem to find soft sanding wheels/discs (50 -
220+grit ) that would allow me to work the entire
surface of each piece. Flat (one-sided) sanding discs
are no good even with foam backing. I need a disc shaped
like a grinding disc (5"-7" ) that will get into the
contours. Do such wet-sanding wheels exist?
Any ideas would be appreciated, as I think sitting in a
cloud of dust, and doing everything dry is not the way
to go. I've had to learn everything on my own here, but
the more stone work I do, the more I love it.
In short, I need wet system attachments for grinding and
sanding of marble and alabaster.
Thank you in advance, for any suggestions.
