Linda,
Storing you alabaster on a pallet , and under a tarp for protection from the
sun and rain is the standard way to go. I never store any of my stones on
the dirt. It can leave very bad stains in the stone. I've found white marble
that was left in the mud for a few years that had stains that went into the
stone 2 to 3 inches. Alabaster is the only stone that I've run into that is
light sensitive. There may be others with the same problem. The color seemes
to be faded and the outside surface gets real brittle and chalky.

Since you already have your stone in the house, why don't you put some of
them on pedestals? Just a thought.

I have stone in my basement, on the front and back porch, in the garage
which has never had a car in it, stacks on the side of the garage, and I pay
rent to store the bulk on my " future projects " in my neighbors barn, but
my wife absolutly, positivly, drew the line when I wanted to bring rocks
into the living room! I don't know how many, but its enough!

Good luck
George Graham
