Free Marble!!!
John,
Thanks for the info on the marble. I recently moved to CA so any info on
the geology (or other natural history) is very much welcomed.

I KNEW it was harder. My hubby said I was just whining, mainly because I
just finished two wood sculptures. And when you go from wood to stone, just
about any stone feels terribly hard!
Quoted text begins. Some of them also contain very uniformly distributed, colorless
silicates up to maybe 5% of the stone composition. It doesn't affect the
appearance but may slightly affect the progress of fine polishing.

How will the silicates affect the polishing? Is there any easy method to
tell if a piece has silicates?
Thanks again,
Linda
