Angle Grinder Speeds
I was looking thru the archives trying to answer one question, and ended up
confusing myself on another issue. When using a diamond wheel with an angle
grinder, what is the recommended rpm? I was told by a sculptor that 5,000
rpm's would be ideal as it wouldn't melt the matrix that holds the diamonds
and the blade stays relatively cool. But I found in the archives someone
saying that you need to run angle grinders at 10,000 rpm's so that the blade
cools. Both can't be right!
I'm trying to find a slightly faster way to cut very hard marble. The angle
grinder I have is at 10,000 and the diamond wheel doesn't really cut it. I
will spend the money to get a variable speed angle grinder, if the wheels
will cut better at a slower speed. What do people who work with either the
hard marbles (such as the black Belgium) or granite use to cut their stone
with?
