Linda,

If you use diamond blades for hard marble, then coated
or bonded diamond generally works better than sintered
(metal/diamond matrix). Some sintered blades are worse
at "skating" on marble (not digging in). If there is a
lot of silicon in the stone, then sintered will last
longer. Speed shouldn't make much difference except of
course how fast it cuts. And it really is true 10K rpm
is good for 4 inch diamond blades. Larger blades must go
slower for safety reasons, just like small die grinder
bit can safely go 25K rpm or more.
