Angle Grinder Speeds
Hi folks,
This morning I ventured into town and bought a masonry grinding wheel for
$3.29. I'm sorry, but compared to the $40+ diamond wheels that didn't work,
I had little hope for this cheap thing. (I figured I could always cut some
bricks for a garden edging, so it wouldn't be a total waste of money.) I
went ahead and tried it anyway, just because I had it and you guys said it
worked. Well, I was utterly flabbergasted at how well it did cut this
marble!!! It went thru it as easily as the diamond wheels went thru
alabaster. I can hardly believe it. The only 'bad' point is that after
making 5 or 6 lines for the fins, it does begin to heat up a bit and smells
like fresh tar. (I know, I should've had a dust mask on and would have
never smelled it then, but... well, no excuse but it's hot and I'm lazy.)
So, I just want to say thank to everyone for all the help, especially to
those that suggested cheap wheels. You saved me a bundle of money. Plus
now I'm all excited about trying some larger chunks of this marble, since I
now have a way to sculpt it which doesn't involved spending months removing
small waste areas!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Linda
