mallet/hammer query
Ann - I'd go for a nylon mallet: less tiring than a lump
hammer and so less likely to make your elbow ache as
quickly. I've used it to work a bit of Portland and it
did all I wanted. I am though still a beginner
(probably no more than 60 hours in total!) I have now
bought a dummy and love it for its lightness and
precision (the nylon mallet is quite bulbous and can get
in the way a bit if your trying to do a fiddly bit).
The other thing I have been told is not to use a lump
hammer on mallet head chisels - Don has already
explained why.
Have fun.
