hammers and mallets
Hi all just couldn't stay out, especially when George mentioned "Japanese".
My favourite striking tool is a Japanese hammer, steel head, two striking
faces, about 3" x 1" x 1/2", I only bought it because when the rep showed
it to me I though it looked pretty nice, ie very Japanese, I 've cut the
handle shorter from about 12'' down to 9" as that seemed to be where I was
wanting to hold it. As I really only use the hand chisels for very fine work
after I've roughed out with the air hammer etc it's fine for me...........I
would never have thought that it could work so well.
While we're on this sort of subject I found the need for very small points
and there was nothing much around here that looked as it it would do the job
but I bought an engineer's tungsten , tipped scribe, $10 Australian about $5
US, about the size of a biro just to see if it would do what I wanted it to
do. Very effective and stays very sharp and at that price very good value.
Regards to all Clive
